چکیده

The spin-glass-like behavior observed in mechanically alloyed Al49Fe30Cu21 is attributed to the collective freezing of ferromagnetic nanoclusters, i.e., the appearance of a superspin glass phase. The presence of the clusters and their estimated size (;1 nm) were inferred from magnetization measurements. The transition critical exponent zn513.860.4, extracted from ac-susceptibility data, is similar to those obtained in other superspin glasses. Mössbauer spectroscopy offered more direct evidence: the component related to the clusters undergoes a transition from a high-temperature quadrupolar doublet to a distribution of sextets, whose mean hyperfine splitting grows with decreasing temperature in a similar fashion to spin glasses. The relation between these magnetic dynamics and the sample structure is addressed.

- 1 - Spin glass behavior in an interacting γ - Fe 2 O 3 nanoparticle system

In this paper we investigate the superspin glass behavior of a concentrated assembly of interacting maghemite nanoparticles and compare it to that of canonical atomic spin glass systems. ac versus temperature and frequency measurements show evidence of a superspin glass transition taking place at low temperature. In order to fully characterize the superspin glass phase, the aging behavior of bo...

Critical spin-glass dynamics in a heterogeneous nanogranular system

The analysis of ac magnetic susceptibility data has shown that mechanically alloyed Fe30Ag40W30 , a highly heterogeneous nanogranular system, exhibits critical dynamics in its transition to a low-temperature spin-glasslike phase, as proved by the power-law divergence of the relaxation time at Tg519.7 K, and by the dynamic scaling behavior of the out-of-phase component of the susceptibility. Bot...

Effect of Asymmetric Functionalized Graphene Oxide (Janus GO) on Young′s Modulus and Glass Transition Temperature of PSf Ultrafiltration Membrane

In this study, effect of asymmetric functionalized graphene oxide (Janus GO) on Young′s modulus and glass transition temperature of Polysulfone (PSf) ultrafiltration membranes was investigated. The membranes were prepared via phase inversion method and GO nanosheets were dispersed in casting solution by sonication. Results showed that the Normalized Young’s modulus (on the basis of neat ...

Extraction of a dynamical correlation length in a superspin glass

In this paper we report on zero field cooled magnetization relaxation experiments on a concentrated frozen ferrofluid exhibiting a low temperature superspin glass transition. Using a method initially developped for spin glasses we are able to extract the dynamical correlation length and its time dependence from the Zeeman coupling between the applied magnetic field and the typical number of cor...

Towards a Theory of the Integer Quantum Hall Transition: From the Nonlinear Sigma Model to Superspin Chains

A careful study of the supersymmetric version of Pruisken’s nonlinear σ model for the integer quantum Hall effect is presented. The lattice regularized model is cast in Hamiltonian form by taking the anisotropic limit and interpreting the topological density as an alternating sum of Wess-Zumino terms. It is argued that the relevant large-scale physics of the model is preserved by projection of ...
